Australia
"Water Buffalo & Banteng"

Water Buffalo | Banteng | Visa's & Firearms | Camps | Goat Hunts | Rates

G'day Mate!

According to the Aboriginal people, the Ancestral Beings created the wild, spectacular lands of Northern Australia at the dawn of time. And men hunted here. Even after thousands of years, little has changed. The land is still vast and totally unspoiled. Arnhem Land is owned by and home to Australia's Aboriginal people. Men still come here to seek unusual, exotic species available in few other places in the world.

The outfitter for this adventure is fortunate to have a special license arrangement to hunt this legendary land, and for many years they have worked hard to earn the respect of both our clients and the custodians of the land we hunt. They have added a touch of civilization with the comfortable camps, good food and modem vehicles, but beyond that you will experience the majesty of Australia the same as men and women have for centuries. It is an experience enjoyed equally by hunters and
non-hunters alike, and their professionalism and traditional hospitality can be confirmed by a long list of references. This year, join them Down Under. The hunting's great, and the fun is unlimited.

Water Buffalo...

Water Buffalo Water Buffalo are big and they are plentiful! The buffalo camp is located along a magnificent lagoon (locally referred to as a billabong) in rugged, and very remote Arnhem Land in Northern Australia. Just 2 1/2 hours westward by air from Darwin, the buffalo area is probably the best in the entire continent. This outfitter has exclusive arrangements with the Aboriginal owners of the area.

In this specific area, trophies over SCI 100
are not uncommon with the largest taken to date scoring over 117. These are wild, untamed animals having never been fenced or caught. This area did not suffer the effects of the Eradication Program of several years ago! You can expect to look over many buffalo every day.

Banteng...

Banteng Banteng have haunted the forests of the Cobourg Peninsula since 1848. This handsome, exotic animal is extremely elusive and alert, and is a supreme challenge to the hunter. It is very rare, listed as endangered species in its native Indonesia. Only three outfitters are

licensed to legally hunt this prized species and this outfitter has only 15 permits per season. A banteng hunt is one of the most distinctive and unusual hunts in the world.

On the banteng hunt there are several exciting extras offered if time permits: Wild boar are plentiful and can be hunted for a nominal fee. You may enjoy the superb complimentary fishing in the estuaries of the Cobourg Peninsula. These waters have never been fished commercially and the chances are you will have them all to yourself. The famous barrimundi is found here along with many other hard-fighting species. Just let us know so we can arrange for tackle and a guide. Banteng hunters can also try for the elusive sambar deer, although they are very difficult to obtain. There is no extra charge other than the trophy fee if you are successful. Both buffalo and banteng hunters can enjoy a one-day add-on goat hunt as desired. It normally will be done while changing from the buffalo to the banteng area.

Banteng Hunt Extras...

All banteng hunters are entitled to excellent complimentary fishing the Cobourg Peninsula. Wild boar can also be hunted in the banteng area for a nominal trophy fee. You can also hunt Sambar deer in this area, time permitting. Be advised that these deer are very elusive and the success rate is low. If you are successful, you pay the trophy fee only. If unsuccessful, there is no charge.

Travel to Australia...

If you are coming from the United States, you will fly nonstop from Los Angeles to Sydney. On your trip back to Sidney, you might want to go through Cairns so you can include the Great Barrier Reef in your visit.

Visa's, Firearms, etc...

Australia is very safe, clean and stable country, and the people are known for their hospitality. There is a great variety of activities and fascinating places to visit. You may want to plan some extra time to see some of the popular attractions in this unique country. We are glad to make some suggestions.

Australia does not have malaria or the tsetse fly. You do not need any special vaccinations. Currently, you have to arrange an entry visa electronically through your travel agent, and you will need a current passport, of course.

We will arrange the necessary documentation should you wish to bring your own firearm or alternatively you can also borrow one of theirs. As you will be hunting large animals, you should use an appropriate caliber. They will be happy to accommodate archery and handgun hunters as they have in the past. Camouflage clothing is legal. Non-hunters and families always enjoy the Australian countryside and the people. Every effort to provide a memorable experience for the hunter and nonhunter alike will be made.

The Camps...

You will find their tented camps comfortable and pleasant. The buffalo camp is 2 1/2 hour flight on their own aircraft from Darwin to Arnhem land. Both camps have roomy tents, proper beds and linens, and electricity. The dining areas is fully screened. Camps have sit-down toilets, running water and hot/cold showers. There is a washing machine and good refrigeration in each camp. They pride themselves on their good food. Both camps are very scenic, with the buffalo camp on a pleasant lagoon and the banteng camp on a white sandy beach with off-shore breezes and beautiful sunsets. Radio contact is maintained with the Flying Doctor in Darwin in case of an emergency.
