Combination Hunts | Accommodations | Firearms | Travel | Rates

We invite you to experience the great hunting diversity available in Queensland. Australian Antlered Adventures (AAA), has over 1.5 million acres of hunting access stretching from the high coastal ranges of the southeast to the broad open expanses of the far north. AAA can now offer the widest range of hunting and fishing opportunities presently available in this state.

We started our hunting operation in 1986 specializing in free range deer hunts. Since those early days we have expanded our operation to include:

Red Deer

Red Deer...

These animals are best hunted from February when they are first coming out of velvet through to early May-the end of the 'rutting' period. The terrain that the reds run in is diverse, changing from undulating areas to steep heavily forested mountains. Trophies ranging from 200 to 280 SCI are available.

Chital Deer...

The Chital deer are found inland from Townsville in the Charters Towers area and can be hunted all year. As the seasons have improved in North Queensland so too has the trophy quality with many outstanding animals coming out in the past 12 months. Trophies in excess of 32" are available. Although temperatures can become quite high during summer, the terrain is lightly undulating and easily traversed. Wild pigs and dingoes are also available in this area.

Fallow Deer...

We offer some of the best fallow deer country available in Queensland with hunting from late January to August. Again the terrain is diverse from river flats to steep forested hills. Trophy heads scoring 200 SCI are available Wild goats and pigs are also available in this area.

Ducks & Quails...

We are able to offer well managed areas for these birds as well as the opportunity to shoot over one of Australia's finest gun dogs. Quail species available in this area are the Brown and Stubble variety (Bag limit of 25 / day), the duck species include Maned Goose (Wood Ducks), Black Duck, Grass Whistler, Diving Whistler and Grey Teal (Bag limit of 12 / day). This season runs from June to August and is truly a memorable hunt.

Scrub Bulls...

As we go further north into central Queensland we come into an untapped hunting challenge - the Scrub Bull. These animals are massive in size and are one of Australia's true big game animals. They are found in country very similar to our Red deer range and can be hunted all year round. With the high Brahman content in the bulls, they are producing massive trophies with spreads reaching 40" and better. We already have several eligible for the top ten SCI record book.

The opportunity to take feral pigs in this area is also available. A short walk from the quarters and you are able to wet a line and fish for Australia's renowned fighting fish the 'Barramundi'. The area is an almost untouched natural breeding ground for these fish. Other fish species such as Permit, Giant Trevally, Mackeral, etc. are also available Mud crabs, ducks and quail are also in abundance - what more could you ask for.

Wild Pigs...

We are able to offer wild pig hunting at its very best. After a short flight from Cairns heading north we are now able to offer an area that has been recently opened to hunting. With mobs of up to 1,000 pigs seen at a time in the dry season it is really pig hunters' paradise. This area is only accessible in the dry season.

Other Game...

Should time allow, there is excellent small game available in most of the areas that we hunt including hares, rabbits, dingoes, fox and wild cats.

Combination Hunts...

It is possible to hunt all or any combination of the above species in one hunting trip, although some species are only available at certain times of the year. A combo hunt is a far more economical way of hunting all of the species Queensland has to offer.

Accommodations...

Accommodations vary from one camp to another and depends on hunting conditions at the time. You may need to fly camp out in the bush to gain the right position to hunt one of these animals. All areas have well-equipped cabins or homesteads to return to with some offering 4 star service.

Climate & Clothing...

As you can well imagine, because of the great expanse of hunting range we are able to offer, it is difficult to accurately predict the range of temperatures each hunter will face. In the southern areas the winters can drop to -5ºC during the winter nights but still reach 28ºC during the day. In summer in the northern areas the days can get as hot as 45ºC The further north you go the hotter and more humid it will be, although all areas can get cold during the nights. Therefore hunters are advised to utilize
apparel that can be varied to allow for temperature changes. More information on these conditions can be given when the hunt is booked. Khaki or camouflage clothing is preferred, with well worn walking boots suitable for quiet stalking essential.

Firearms...

On all species of deer a .270 or better is acceptable, although the scrub bulls require much larger calibers (i.e., .300 Win Mag or better.) If you are interested in shooting birds then it is necessary to bring a shotgun. All hunters are required to have a current firearms license, with these licenses being reciprocal between the Australian states. Firearms permits can be arranged for overseas hunters. Hedgpeth's Adventures in Hunting has this application on file.

Travel...

Let us meet you at the nearest major airport (these being Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns) and drive you in air-conditioned comfort to your hunt area. If you are hunting pigs in far North Queensland, we usually travel by light plane from Cairns. If you are doing a combination hunt and time is of a shortage we are able to offer flights between properties by light aircraft at cost price. These flights become quite affordable if a group of hunters share the costs.

Group Bookings...

AAA has the ability to offer group bookings to give you the best value for your hunting dollar as well as giving you the opportunity to hunt with your friends. We can offer 2 hunters - 1 guide or for larger bookings we have very experienced guides who are as dedicated to your hunt as we are.

Additional Activities for New Hunting Guests...

While you are off enjoying your hunt, we are able to entertain your non-hunting partner with a wide range of activities depending on which area you are hunting in. These include local sightseeing, craft and antique markets, water activities, shopping, visiting a local winery or two, or just lounging back and enjoying the beaches for which Queensland is renowned.

Terms of Business...

We require a deposit to secure your hunt booking. The balance is payable on commencement of the hunt in cash or travelers cheques. In the event of a cancellation your deposit is nonrefundable from 60 days prior to the commencement of your hunt. Alternatively, we will try to reschedule your hunt to a more convenient time.
